Lisbon with Will... 2012

We flew from Edinburgh to Lisbon on September 1st then took a Taxi to our back packers accommodation in the centre of the city.  So convenient and comfortable. The  town square and footpaths of  mosaics are magnificent, spoilt only by cigarette buts everywhere!  We caught a train that travelled beside the beach to the Castle of Pena. We were introduced to Sangria, and Gapasaco which were enjoyed while listening to local music on a hill above the city. The tram ride around the city was scarey in some instances as some roads are very narrow and winding.  All in all, a beautiful city. WILL CERTAINLY CHOSE WELL OUR ACCOMMODATION ON THE WHOLE TRIP. HE IS A HAPPY GREAT TRAVELLING COMPANION.
ARRIVING AT LISBON

Had cakes to die for.

Note the mosaics.

This is the Palace of Pena.  Non Fernando 11 (1819-1885) was the Creator of the Park and the Palace of Pena .  Son of Ferdinard, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and Maria Antonia, Princess of Kohary. He was known as the Artist-King. You have to see the Park to believe how large it is, and the Palace!!!

High on a hill!!!

Brave boy

How on earth did 'they' build it in those days???

On top of the world

A special toy  and model shop at the base of the Castle.

This is where we enjoyed food and drinks.
